Insurance verification

Insurance verification before the visit

We check coverage ahead of the appointment, so your front desk hears about a plan change while the patient can still do something about it.

A sample eligibility response showing coverage ended, an insurance card, and a sticky note asking for the new card at check in.

When a patient's coverage changes

A patient moves to a Medicare Advantage plan in January, still has the old card in her wallet, and nobody updates the chart. You find out three weeks later, when the claim comes back.

By then she's gone home, and the plan she's on now might want a referral you don't have. So what could've been one question at check in turns into phone calls to the patient and the plan, and maybe the referring office too.

  • Plan and payer changesMoves between Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and commercial plans.
  • Benefit detailsCopay, deductible and coinsurance, when the payer gives that information.
  • Referrals and authorizationsWe flag visits that need something in place before the patient's seen.

How it runs

  1. 1

    Check the schedule

We look at upcoming appointments ahead of time.

  2. 2

    Send your staff the problems

Your front desk only hears about the visits with a problem, and each one comes with a specific note.

  3. 3

    Record the results

The results go on the account, so the claim goes out with the coverage we confirmed.

How this is priced

Verification can be part of your billing fee or a fixed fee of its own. Your written proposal will say which.

Insurance verification questions

What people ask about this

Does this replace our front desk?

No. They get a short list of what needs attention, which means less time on payer portals and more with patients.

What if you can't confirm a patient's coverage?

We flag it with whatever we found, and your practice decides how to handle the visit.

Does an active result guarantee payment?

No. An eligibility response confirms coverage at that moment. The payer can still decline to cover a specific service.
